I don't think I lack humanity.
You may not know I'm an atheist, because it only comes up in discussions around atheism. Most of the time, it's simply irrelevant. I am a "weak atheist" -- not agnostic or unsure or convertible, just lacking any belief in any deities. I lack belief in the Abrahamic god the same way most Christians lack belief in non-Christian gods (Freya, Athena, Shiva). That is, without spending any time or energy disbelieving.
If you remember talking to me at all, please remember that I am not the stereotype you may think I am.
I don't always agree with the person who said atheists lacked humanity, but I never thought he'd express such contempt for me as a human being.
Perhaps I should not admit this, as plenty of people think (others') feelings are irrelevant, but it hurts to know I am hated simply for what I am.
